Thanks to the commitment of 23,000 growers, 31.5 million tonnes of sugar beet were harvested in 2023-2024, on 379,000 hectares spread in northern and eastern France.
Nearly 2 million tonnes of sugar cane were also harvested over 36,000 hectares during the campaign, in French overseas departments (DROM).
With more than 4 million tonnes of beet sugar produced during the last campaign, France remains the 1st largest sugar producer in Europe, the 2nd largest producer of beet sugar worldwide (behind Russia) et the 9th largest sugar producer in the globe (all sugars combined).
